Description Dog training truffles (English Black Autumn truffles / truffle pieces) – NOT for human consumption. They may be small, holey, not fully ripe, have slug-eaten parts or be offcuts. In the season, c. September – c. January, they will generally be supplied as fresh truffles. Typically, we do not hold any stock but will supply them when we next gather any – usually every week. This means in general; we do not send out truffles on the day that they are ordered. “My first wild truffle!!” – this spaniel’s training programme culminated in looking for our dog training truffles. On occasions in the season, and out of season, they will be supplied from frozen stock but sent with an ice block. They may be partially defrosted when they reach you. If supplied fresh they should be refrigerated when not being used, if sent frozen, store them in your freezer. Please also see the “Caring for your dog training truffles” section. We recommend that, at least initially, you put the truffle in a small container so the dog does not eat it! The container should not have any scent of its own and not be too small to avoid any risk it being swallowed by the dog. We recommend using scent probes. If you make your own container, it will also want some holes making in it let the smell out. Packaging reuse / recycling Delivery Due to the perishable nature of dog training truffles, we do not offer a standard delivery option. Express Delivery Cost: £5.70These are sent by Royal Mail Tracked 24®. The service is fully trackable and does NOT require a signature on delivery. This aims to deliver on the next working day, including Saturday, but this is NOT guaranteed. You can track your delivery at Royalmail.com or with the Royal Mail app. Whilst Royal Mail state that most items will be delivered within this timeframe it can occasionally take longer. Unfortunately, once the items are with Royal Mail we lose any influence and control over their delivery. We ask all customers to be patient when waiting for their products to arrive. If for some reason you have not received your product within a reasonable length of time then please don’t hesitate to contact us so we can look into it for you. Caring for your dog training truffles Fresh TrufflesFresh truffles have a fairly short shelf life. They will keep for 1 – 2 weeks if looked after carefully, however the aroma and flavour will reduce over time. Remove your truffles from all of the packaging. When not being used for training, place them in an airtight container (Tupperware box, glass jar, zip-loc bag) wrapped in kitchen towel. Close the lid tightly and put it in the warmest part of the fridge (generally the top-shelf). Check them daily, wipe away any condensation that collects inside the container and change the kitchen towel. Frozen TrufflesFrozen truffles will be defrosted by the time they arrive with you. They soften as they defrost and will not keep as long as fresh truffles. To get the maximum use from them, you can refreeze them, use them frozen for training and then put them back in the freezer when the training session is over.
