Description Cosopt Eye Drops 15Ml is a sterile ophthalmic solution containing two active ingredients: dorzolamide hydrochloride and timolol maleate. This combination medication is prescribed by ophthalmologists to lower elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Dorzolamide hydrochloride is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor that reduces the production of aqueous humor (the fluid inside the eye). Timolol maleate is a beta-adrenergic receptor blocker that also reduces the production of aqueous humor. By combining these two different mechanisms of action, Cosopt Eye Drops provide a greater reduction in IOP compared to either medication used alone. This helps to manage the pressure inside the eye and reduce the risk of damage to the optic nerve, which can lead to vision loss and glaucoma. The 15ml bottle provides a larger volume compared to some other eye drop formulations. Combination Glaucoma Medication: Contains dorzolamide hydrochloride and timolol maleate. Lowers Intraocular Pressure (IOP). Treats Open-Angle Glaucoma. Treats Ocular Hypertension. Dorzolamide Hydrochloride: Carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, reduces aqueous humor production. Timolol Maleate: Beta-adrenergic receptor blocker, reduces aqueous humor production. Provides Enhanced IOP Reduction Due to Dual Action. Sterile Ophthalmic Solution. Larger 15ml Bottle Size. Prescription Medication: Requires a doctor’s prescription and regular eye exams. Directions for Use: The usual dosage is one drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily, usually in the morning and evening. Follow your ophthalmologist’s instructions carefully regarding the dosage and frequency of use. Wash your hands before using the eye drops. To administer the drops, tilt your head back and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket. Hold the dropper above the eye and squeeze one drop into the pocket. Close your eye gently and apply light pressure to the inner corner of your eye (near the nose) for about 1-2 minutes to help prevent the medication from draining away. If you are using other eye drops, wait at least 5-10 minutes before administering them. Precautions: Use only as prescribed by your ophthalmologist. Inform your doctor if you have any allergies, especially to dorzolamide, timolol, beta-blockers, sulfonamides, or any other ingredients in the eye drops. Tell your doctor about all your medical conditions, particularly heart problems (such as bradycardia, heart block, heart failure), blood circulation problems, low blood pressure, asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, kidney disease, liver disease, thyroid disorders, or diabetes. Inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including prescription and over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements, as Cosopt can interact with many medications, especially other beta-blockers (oral or eye drops), carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (oral), blood pressure medications, heart medications, calcium channel blockers, digitalis, epinephrine, and certain antidepressants. Do not allow the tip of the dropper to touch your eye or any other surface to prevent contamination. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using Cosopt Eye Drops and wait at least 15 minutes after instilling the drops before reinserting them. Be aware that Cosopt may cause drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, or fatigue in some patients. Exercise caution when driving or operating machinery until you know how the medication affects you. Inform your doctor if you develop any new or worsening eye symptoms, such as eye pain, redness, itching, or vision changes. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, as Cosopt may not be safe for use during these times. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately. Store at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Do not freeze.
