Description Yasmin 21Tab is a combined oral contraceptive pill (COCP) containing two synthetic hormones: drospirenone (a progestogen) and ethinylestradiol (an estrogen). It is used by women to prevent pregnancy. Yasmin works primarily by inhibiting ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovary). Additionally, it thickens the cervical mucus, making it more difficult for sperm to reach the egg, and it alters the lining of the uterus (endometrium) to make it less likely for a fertilized egg to implant. When taken correctly and consistently, Yasmin is a highly effective method of contraception. Each pack contains 21 active tablets to be taken daily for 21 days, followed by a 7-day tablet-free interval during which a withdrawal bleed (similar to a period) usually occurs. Directions for Use: Take one Yasmin tablet daily for 21 consecutive days, starting on the first day of your menstrual period (or as directed by your doctor). Swallow the tablet whole with water, preferably at the same time each day. After taking all 21 active tablets, have a 7-day tablet-free interval. During this break, you will usually experience a withdrawal bleed. Start your next pack of Yasmin on the 8th day, even if your bleeding has not stopped. It is important to take the tablets as directed to maintain contraceptive effectiveness. Precautions: Before starting Yasmin, it is important to discuss your medical history with your doctor, as combined oral contraceptives are not suitable for all women. Contraindications may include a history of blood clots, heart attack, stroke, certain types of migraine, breast cancer or other hormone-sensitive cancers, liver disease, and uncontrolled high blood pressure. Yasmin, like other COCPs, carries a small risk of serious side effects, including blood clots. The risk may be increased if you smoke, are overweight, have a family history of blood clots, or have certain medical conditions. Common side effects may include nausea, headache, breast tenderness, and mood changes. If you experience any severe side effects, such as severe abdominal pain, chest pain, shortness of breath, severe headache with vision changes, or yellowing of the skin or eyes, seek medical attention immediately. Yasmin does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Use barrier methods like condoms for STI protection. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place.
